Dr. Lynne Kramer & Dr. Helen Shui
We love things that are fascinating, especially in medicine.
Dr. Lynne Kramer
Dr. Lynne Kramer is a developmental and behavioral pediatrician. She attended Boston University School of Medicine in the late 1900’s and graduated in the early aughts. She was studying her butt off at the turn of the century. Uncle Sam paid to put her through medical school so as soon as she graduated, she became an officer in the US Army. She was a pediatric resident and then a fellow in developmental pediatrics at Madigan Army Medical Center. During her time there she got married on the shore of Lake Washington and later had her first kiddo.
From there she moved to Germany where she was a staff physician at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. By the end of her time there she was Chief of Developmental Pediatrics, Chief of the Craniofacial Clinic, Chief of the Autism Diagnostic Clinic, Chief of the Birth to Three Program, and Chief of the EFMP Program. It was entirely too many chiefdoms. She “visited” Iraq in late 2009. It was hot. After arriving back in Germany she had her second child.
She left the military honorably in 2013 and moved to Wisconsin where, worn out from all those chiefdoms, she decided to stay at home to raise her children.
Lynne and her family moved back to the Boston area in 2021. She started spending more time on her hobby of art (which was something she picked up again while in Wisconsin). Things went along that way – doing chores, chauffeuring the children, running errands – until the children gradually grew up and she found herself missing more intellectual pursuits. While searching for something rewarding to fill her time, she started a podcast with a good friend from medical school. Unfortunately, that friend became increasingly busy with her day job. Uninterested in doing a solo podcast, Lynne ended the podcast officially in early December 2024. But the 25 episodes produced remain.

Dr. Helen Shui is a pseudonym, which means “Helen” is not her real name. She wants to keep her podcast life and her real life separate, and we respect that. While you won’t find any information about her on the internet, she really is a surgeon who went to medical school with Lynne way back when.
